Tamped Concrete

Suitable for maximum grip for traffic, a tamped concrete floor provides a non-slip, very course finish; it is a very cost effective concrete laying solution and is mainly used in steep, hard to traffic areas. By raising and lowering a beam to compact the surface of the concrete, a Tamped concrete, rough finish floor is produced.

Although there is no set British Standard tolerance, or specification, for tamped concrete, it usually produces a ridged surface of generally regular spacing of 20 to 30 mm and between 5mm and 10mm in height. Ideally, the grooves should follow the direction of drainage falls and on ramps and this type of finish can be dusty and may wear quickly in heavily used areas.

Minimum depths are dependent on the design and use of the slab, typically 200mm. Depending on the design and use of the slab, minimum depths are usually 200 mm. This type of concrete can take foot traffic after 24 hours.
